Holy Redeemer Parish Small Groups
God uses people to form people. Small groups consist of up to 12 men and women who gather weekly or bi-weekly in the morning, afternoon or evening for prayer, Gospel reflection and faith-sharing conversation. No matter your schedule, there is a time of the day for you. Currently, we have 75 year-round and seasonal members in eight small groups who are meeting at Holy Redeemer, but groups may also meet in a home, on zoom (like our seasonal group is presently doing), in a public venue or whatever works. Joining a small group is not a rigid commitment, and we are flexible with attendance.
Small groups offer awesome experiences for personal relationships and friendships as well as opportunities to be Christ-like ministers to others. You need not be an expert and members share on the level where they are most comfortable. Some feedback about the faith-sharing experiences of small groups includes:
“Our parish needed something like this,” said one parishioner. “I’ve made some new friends for life,” said another. Members reaching out to someone who needed moral support has occurred in small groups. “Trust and bonding have rooted in our group,” said a small group member, “and I like that if I choose to remain quiet and listen, I am comfortable doing so.” Come and be a part of our Gospel reflection and faith-sharing community of small groups. Come and be inspired by the Holy Spirit! Come and help us become a parish of small groups.

“My small group feels like an extended family to me. I was not expecting to feel this way rather, I first approached the group as a type of continuing education college class. Show up - discuss - leave! The fact that my heart feels joy at seeing my fellow small faith members at church and around the community is totally amazing. We share our feelings, we share our beliefs, we have really bonded. My knowledge of the Gospels has definitely expanded, it is history really coming alive for me. I do encourage others to come with an open mind and heart and let the Holy Spirit take over!”
“Faith sharing is the highlight of my busy week; keeps me grounded.”
“I cannot believe so much time has passed since the group began. We have blessed and caring members. When I initially started I did not plan on attending for more than 6 months as I had so much on my plate. Everyone drew me in and I found time to be with friends and a different way to find the Gospel in my present life.”
“I always listened carefully to the gospel as history I should know—after Small Group I listen for the message it is giving me for my life today.”
“The small groups have helped make the gospel more deeply understood. It has also helped me to meet people at the Cape that share the same faith and that has been very nice.”
“My participation in a small faith sharing group has added a new dimension to my own bible-study experience. Every week at least one member of our group shares an insight which had never occurred to me! That said, we also spend a-quarter of our time laughing, and we all know that this is “the best medicine!”
“I have never participated in a group like this before so I was unsure what it would be like. But I find that I cannot wait to attend our meeting each week. I always learn something new about the faith and the discussions are great.”
“We cannot live the Christian faith alone; it is indeed a blessing to be able to share and learn from other committed Catholics.”
