Reconciliation

Jesus Christ hears the confession of sins and grants forgiveness through the ministry of the ordained priest. The ugliness of one’s sins becomes a sweet offering to God, when the sins are confessed. Through the words of the priest, “I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” the Lord grants pardon and peace to the penitent. Also, in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God gives strength to avoid committing the sin again. Penance means turning back to God. Although it is difficult to acknowledge and confess our sins, keeping them hidden to ourselves is an even greater burden. Confession is often experienced as the lifting of a heavy burden. Pope Francis reminds us that God never tires of forgiving us, but we get tired of asking for forgiveness. (Angelus Address March 17, 2013).

Sacrament of Reconciliation at Holy Redeemer:

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered every Saturday from 3PM-3:45PM in the Church. You can also contact the parish office to make an appointment (508-945-0677). Seasonal Reconciliation Services are held during Advent and Lent.
